Getaway Hämeenlinna is housed in the Ojennuslaitos, a building constructed in the 19th century. Ojennuslaitos is now under renovation.
Ojennuslaitos served as a correctional facility, essentially a prison, from 1840 to 1871. With such a long history, the building has certainly seen its fair share of time. Over the years, Ojennuslaitos has been carefully restored and well maintained. Many of our players have had the chance to admire its interior stained-glass mosaics and other stunning details.
To ensure the building remains in good condition, a major roof renovation is currently underway. The renovation began in the fall of 2024 and is expected to be completed by the summer of 2025.
Due to the renovation, our courtyard is somewhat disrupted, and construction noises can be heard inside during the day. We apologize in advance if these sounds reach the rooms during gameplay — unfortunately, there’s not much we can do about it. The good news is that in just a few more months, the roof and Ojennuslaitos will be in better shape than ever!
